Picton Heritage & Whaling Museum

The Picton Museum, located on Waitohi Pa, sits opposite to the Queen Charlotte Sound & Picton Foreshore and is home to historical collections from Picton that date back to the 1700s. The museum has more than 2000 originals; some of the items you can expect to see here are categorized under Maori, Whaling, Maritime, Heritage and Textile displays.

The displays also talk about the stories of the people who lived here and how Waitohi i.e. Picton came into being. It also documents the various maritime activities and detailed information revolving around whaling. It is a community museum managed by Picton Historical Society. The aim of the society is to provide deeper insight into the history of Picton and the Sounds, in addition to serving the community. Its address is 9 London Quay, Picton, 7220, New Zealand and it opens to public everyday from 11AM to 3 PM.
