John Chatterley and Warrick Purdie founded Ace Rental Cars in 1987 in Auckland, New Zealand. It was started as a tourist rental service, known as Ace Tourist Rentals Ltd. Quick to identify the need of the hour to provide an affordable and convenient mobility solution to otherwise expensive car rentals, Ace started the car rental service by the name Ace Rental Cars.
The company was later bought by the car rental giant Hertz International in 2011. It currently operates as a subsidiary of Hertz. In 2003, Ace Rental Cars opened the doors in Australia by revealing the first branch in Brisbane after which there was no looking back for them. With approximately nine branches throughout New Zealand, including cities like Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Dunedin, etc., Ace Rental Cars is working towards offering the best car rental experience to customers at best value.

A valid Driver’s Licence held for a minimum of 12 months for most cars, a Credit Card in the name of the driver, National ID proof, and passport are required at the time of the car rental pick-up. Travellers from foreign countries are required to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP).
The minimum driver’s age requirement is 21 years. Some restrictions may apply for larger car categories. A Young Driver Surcharge will be applicable for drivers between 21-24 years.
A Credit Card in the name of the driver will be asked by the rental associate at the time of pick-up. It is required for the security deposit amount. The amount held by the supplier is refunded after the return of the vehicle.
